Scholarship Program for Families of OFW

"Philippine Information Agency Daily" News announced the scholarship program for OFW dependants. The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) will grant 100 scholarship slots to qualified dependents of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs)-Members. The applicant should be a beneficiary or a dependent of an OWWA member and is not more than 21 years of age. Preferably a high school graduate and passed the qualifying test conducted by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) National Examination and the College Admission Test where the applicant intends to enroll. The scholarship privileges under the Education for Development Scholarship Program include a cash assistance in the amount of P60,000.00 per year, while school fees will be directly paid to the school.The scholar is free to choose his or her desired field of study as long as the program is offered by a Commission on Higher Education (CHED)-accredited college or university. The OWWA representative said that the deadline of the filing of application will be on October 31, 2008 while the qualifying exam will be on December, this year.
